wearing a plackart ?

Hello All

I have one question about plackart / "belly plate":
Is it possible to wear just a plackart over a padded doublet?
For example as a crossbowman.
I don't think so.
I never have seen a picture where you can be shure that it is just a plackart
and not a plackart combined with a cloth covered breast plate.
