Nailed shoes and fingerless gloves

From: Jens Börner

Hello all,

For those of you searching for evidences for nailed shoes, this may be
interesting:
In Paderborn/Koettenhagen in Germany recent excavations from a small lake
brought to light a lot of leather findings, inkluding leather patterns,
shoes.
Among them, turnshoes with nailed soles, and a glove without fingers with
stamped decoration.
Some of you may know those kind of gloves from some images, though they are
quite rare and exotic.
The finings are dated to 1350-1450.

Mentioned in the current number of the "AiD" ("Archaeologie in Deutschland",
=> "Archeology in Germany"), No. 5/2008: http://www.aid-magazin.de/
There is also a photo, of someone is interested, I can scan it.

Best wishes to all,

Jens
