Thanks to all for the info on haloes (the article is under construction 
- Part I will be on line starting October 31st).

I now have a different subject of enquiry.

Other than Petrarch on Mont Ventoux, does anyone have any medieval 
references to MOUNTAINS and LANDSCAPE, whether geographical, practical 
or philosophical?
