Hi,

Thank you all.  I did the Google search as suggested by Christian and 
there's a pretty in-depth discussion in the archives, with some good points 
raised about why there might be an absence of archaeological evidence.  Not 
many pictures back then though, so I'm glad I brought the topic up again.

I'm convinced enough to put some nails into my next pair of boots, anyway.
