Dear all,

this is my first entry in this mailinglist and sorry for my horrible =
english / grammar ...

i hope i can send pictures with this system ...

see attachmend...

it is from two altarpieces from the painter:=20
 "Meister der Warendorfer Altars " =20

  "Der Isselhorster Altar"   arround 1430
and same painter:
 "Marter des Hl.Laurentius"  arround 1400

this are the absolutly only one secure recourses I know .

I don`t know any recourses in excavation-reports ore in museum.
no soles with nail-holes ore any nails ...
and in Konstanz, Schleswig and Freiburg are thausends of leather and =
shoe findings in the excavations...

to the analogy: min. 50% of the Roman shoes in excavations are nailed =
...

I`m absolutly shure that shoenails are not often in use in the 15th =
century ore yearlier.

yours

  Hello,

  There are a fair few hobnailed boots in Gerry's "Medieval Military =
Costume",=20
  and he quotes Piers Plowman as evidence, along with mentioning the =
existence=20
  of some pictorial sources. I'm wondering if anyone knows what these =
sources=20
  are, or whether any more evidence has come to light since then.

  Thanks,

  Chris Bailey
