I have taken a few quick photos of 15th c scabbard pictures showing scabbard
ends.

A crescent shaped scabbard end should be fine as well for a 15th c. sword.

As far as chapes are concerned, many late 15th c. scabbards do not have any,
so I suggest that you provide the top part of the scabbard with a transverse
"ridge" under the covering leather and attach the scabbard belt directly to
the scabbard, like in some of the provided pictures above.
