From: Christian Folini

... to underline the fact, that there is still work being
done in the Company, even if we are having some issues to
sort out.

Infos for Participants of the Haut-Koenigsbourg-Event 2006
----------------------------------------------------------
The latest version of this document can be found here:
http://www.companie-of-st-george.ch/wiki/HKB06PartInfos
Have a look at this page before the event, there might
be updates.

Dates
-----
Expected Arrival : Thursday 30th March 2006 afternoon or evening.
The transporter will arrive around 16:00.
If you see a chance, try to arrive early on Thursday. There will
be a lot of work to do.
Leaving : Monday 3th April 2006 around 12:00. If you have to
leave Sunday night, please tell the quatermaster Christian early.

Travelling
----------
See http://www.companie-of-st-george.ch/wiki/HKB06TravellingInfos
for maps and stuff. If you are travelling by train, please
announce yourself to Christian in time. He will try to organise
a lift from Selestat, which may take some time. If you do not
get a lift, take a taxi to the castle and save the receipt for
reimbursements.

There is a phonelist at
http://www.companie-of-st-george.ch/wiki/HKB06Phonelist

Upon arriving
-------------
Near the road, there is a kiosk facing Germany,
from the kiosk there is a small road leading to a gate in the
wall. This is where you will find informations and hopefully busy
people that can help you to find your way. Make sure you do not block
this road with your car. You can use it in order unload your car, but
remove the vehicle immediately afterwards. The parking place behind
the said gate is basically non-existing. Try not to enter with the
car.
Put your car on the parking lot next to the road as soon as you can.
If you manage, do change your clothes in your car or immediately after
entering the castle. There is going to be a changing room next to the
said gate.

Equipment - What you should take with you
 * Warm cloths of Burgundian style
We used to have very favorable weather last year, but please do not
let rain and snowfall surprise you!
 * Historical sleeping equipment - that is strawbag and woolen
blankets. We sleep under the roof and it can get quite cold.
Modern sleeping gear is not permitted in the period sleeping room.
 * A Mug, your plate and a spoon, a knife is handy too
 * Bring your armour, there are plenty of opportunities to wear it

If you booked a room in the modern part of the castle, then
the strawbag does not apply of course. But make sure you have a mat
to sleep upon, as there are very few beds only.

What you can expect
-------------------
This is a military event with lots of activities for everyone.
While the Museum itself will be closed during the night, the
rest of the castle is ours 24h of the day.

All the participants will be organised in fairly large dizaines.
Your dizainier is your contact, your organiser and your personal
animator. If you have a problem, address yourself to your
dizainier. He will try to find a solution.

One of the dizaines will be on camp duty per day.
This means to help in the kitchen, clean the cauldrons,
provide the artisan stations with food, chop firewood and
support the quatermaster with whatever work there may
be.

Two of the dizaines will be on guard during the night.
The shifts will be organised by the Master of the Guard
Mathieu together with the Dizainiers. Women may be asked
to participate in the shifts.

The wake-up call will be around 0700. We plan to have morning
prayers every day before breakfast. It is possible the prevot
has an eye to check they are being attended. Breakfast is going
to be between 0800 and 0830, morning muster will be at 0900.
The castle will be opening at 0930.

There will be activities all through the day. Most things
organized via the dizaines. There are drills, canon shooting,
sword training, sports and competitions, equipment to be cleaned
etc. There is more music and therefore more dancing this time.
So bring along your dancing shoes. We have seen most soldiers
dance last year, so there are no excuses.

Naturally, the women will have to take care of themselves a
bit more. There is going to be a wool workshop where Hitomi will
instruct those interested in spinning and carding wool.
Otherwise women are free to join any stations or stay with
the men, especially near the canons.

If you have a bow or even a handgun, please bring it along.
There will be more handgun shooting than there used to be last
time.

There are two or three special activities. On Friday afternoon,
a Polish agitator will be put in court for causing unrest among
the nations within the Company. On Saturday, the Captain and
the officers will examine Master Gunner Ian and his guncrews.
Finally on Sunday, the castle has asked us to do a bit more animation
than we normally do.

Smoking and Cameras
-------------------
As usual, no smoking visible to non-smokers. Likewise, no use
of cameras in costume. If you want to take pictures, please put
on modern clothing and make sure your dizainiers has an idea of
what you are doing.

This time, we are going to have a professional photographer
and a film-maker. They have the right to take pictures, also
at night. To disturb us less, they will put on medieval clothing
for doing so when the public is gone. But this is a special
exception in order to be as discreet as possible. Please be
nice with them and help them to get good material, even if
posing is not desired. If you feel disturbed, please talk
to your dizainier and we'll make sure the event remains
unharmed.

And one last thing: We are going to have a bookwriter as a
special guest. Tim Moore is writing travel reports and his
next book will be about travelling into different periods of
time by means of reenactment. We are happy he has asked us to
join us for an event and i am sure he'll have a lot to
write about afterwards.

Travelling Reimbursements
-------------------------
Travel costs from 50 Euros up will be reimbursed by the Company.
Please address yourself to the treasurer Marc. In order to
qualify for reimbursement you have to share the cars as usual.
If you can't, please get in touch with him beforehand at
mailto:m.weller-at-silversign.ch
And please bring your receipts. For those of you, who have not
recieved their expenses from past events, bring along the
receipts as well. Now that Marc has completely taken over his
treasurer role, he will be able to reimburse you at HKB.

Scenario
--------
We are bringing the castle of the year 1474 back to life. More
details about the environment can be found under
http://www.companie-of-st-george.ch/wiki/HKB06HistoricalScenario

I admit the scenario is very close to last year's scenario
(who spots the difference?) but be sure, this event won't
simply be a repetition.

If you have any questions, speak up and you'll get an answer!

See you soon in our Camp!
