Things regarding green tent

Hello everybody, I?m honoured to join the CoSG mailing list.
Our task is to find out what life could be in the years 1465-1470, in Liege, a city in east Belgium.
The facts: in 1465, the city of Liege was allied with the king of France Louis the 11th, against the prince bishop Louis de Bourbon. With this power on their side, the leaders of the city declared an open war to the all mighty lieutenant-general Charles the Bold (crazy people, huh?). After the destruction of Dinant in 1466, some lone fighters, destitute lords, workers of all kind and simple peons unite. They formed some rebel bands called ?Compagnons de la Verte Tente?. This name came from the French word ?teinte? (colour) than has been transformed in ?tente?. And ?verte? (green) is about the fact that those bands usually used bi-coloured clothes: one part in green and the other from their town or country.
They used handguns to attack the burgundians. In 1467, they were about 4000 and Charles started to see the problem very seriously. So he chased them and offered rewards for help.
With Louis the 11th treachery and the destruction of Liege in November 1468, the bands split and the rebels disappeared. Those 3 years are identified by historians as the Liege Campaign.
Well, you know more about the background of our group. To see a little of our work go to www.vertetente.be (Sorry, it?s all in French, but Mao-Tse-Tung said ?one image worth a million words?).
Cheers,
JF Demoulin
