Hello,
Mathieu has sent me a few pictures to be put online.
Here they are with their respective links.
2 pics of arming doublet from "Le Jouvencel" by Jean de
Bueil. c. 1475Tours, France:

1 pic of mail worn over shoulders looking somehow puffed:

This one is taken from
"La Crucifixion (Santuario 14)", "Heures D'Étienne Chevalier" by
Jean Fouquet, Musée Condé C.1460.
2 pics of the Ursula shrine by Memling ca. 1480.

I do know this one is well known, but regarding the latest
submission by John, i think it is worth noting, that the
Ursula shrine is full of soldiers wearing full mail shirts
under their breast-plate, their padded jacks or even
their brigandine.
Maybe my interpretation is completely wrong, but my guess is,
that a piece of mail stretching from the neck downwards and
being visible on the upper legs would be a full mail shirt.
If that is the case, many of the soldiers are wearing such a
shirt.
Enjoy,
Christian
