Hi,
A friend wears an arming doublet cut in the
french/burgundian style with puff/ball cap shoulders
underneath his Milanese style harness.  He seems to
think the shoulder padding is rather inconsequential
as far as added protection or cushioning, but he has
no complaints about the comfort or functionality of
the style as an arming doublet.
