There is a company in Sweden, Spiros, who makes flat butted rings in spring steel - I'll dig up some samples to bring to Pentecost. As far as I know, they have them in stock and a large order is not required.

The bad news is the Birmingham Rivet people also want payment up front!
Seriously - I'd be happy to co-ordinate this for COSG - and as such wouldn't
make any admin. charge, as lack of flat mail rings is a real pain for us
too - but it might mean setting up a "mail link bank account" for the
purpose to hold cash while enough was clocked up to place the order.
