Once again I want to Thank this list for all the help, you are a
wonderful bunch.
Our guys choose the wools on color not weave (learning curve). We did
cut on the bias for the best stretch. We made them low on the hips as
well. (We're trying hard. :) )
The tears were happening mainly under the bum cheek. (this is
illustrated in Sarah's book) One cause I now see was that the hosen was
not loosened for hard labor. The worst tears happened to a fellow who's
incredibly hard on any clothes. (any period) I have noticed that where I
reinforced the seam is where the tear took off into the fabric.
We have modified the gusset between the legs, making it much wider. This
helped my husband's pairs. A big concern is what will happen when our
mounted fellows try to mount and ride.
We will definitely keep an eye on the weaves. Our wool lady does 18th
cen living history. We are quite an experience for her. She bends over
backwards to help, she just doesn't know anything about the 15th cen.
I'm sure I forgot something. I appreciate all the help.
Thank you very much
Kim
