AFAIK, there were large fustian weaving mills in Cologne,too, but I'll
check this out, just to be shure.

Interesting. Do you have any evidence for linen/cotton fabrics in a
plain or tabby weave?

Shoemakers linen should be rather commonly available, and not too
expensive, that's why I chose it.
