Prevot's report from the Camp in Berne

Report VII

This is the 12th Sunday after Trinitatis. The weater spared us again. The Company will break down camp tonight and I am already on my way out o Berne. With a reasonably sized dizaine I am looking for a new camp ground near the street back to Burgundy. The final Joust is being held today and Jacques de Romont is praying for a final victory. We think he deserves it.

Forums

Well I presented my paper two weekends ago and I am ready to get back to working on this.

So perhaps it is time that we talk about forum subsections or is this going to be just some kind of free for all.  Here is a list from one American board just as a starting point.  I tend to think it is too many as some people won't check them all, all the time and the fewer there are the more likely that something relevant to someone will be seen or atleast that is my logic.

Revision

What would be a good way to deal with revisions to the current and future website texts? I'm thinking about everything from a simple spelling error to changes to instructions (such as the costume guide). In the latter case, I realize that policy decisions may be required. In addition, when any change has been made, the translators would have to be alerted. I don't know how the current texts have evolved. In any case, I think it would be good to have some sort of procedure to deal with such things.

Living History Group Membership

The User Profile has a new section called "Personal Information". There are two items in this section so far:

  • Living History Groups
  • Sex (male or female)

If you enter one or multiple Living History Groups, they are displayed on your profile page, but also with every forum post.

The sex would be used you opt for a role advancement ladder as outlined in the "points" thread. Females would then be mapped to female roles with the help of this item.

Points

Many forums list the number of a user's post next to his name. I tried to do the same and found out, this is not possible with the way we work (drupal can do it via the flatforum module, but surprisingly the flatforum module is incompatible with the garland theme and the garland theme forms the base of our Company theme. Are you still with me?)
