Tattershall Castle in Lincolnshire
This is a guest piece by Jack Edwards.
The Clarence Household would like to announce that it is running a 7 day event in England this July and would be interested to hear from any Company members, guests or associated individuals who might like to come to the event and take part.
With members of the Clarence Household also being long standing members of the Company we wanted to extend an invite to an event that will be running between Monday 16th of July and Sunday 22nd of July 2012 at Tattershall Castle in Lincolnshire. This will be a 7 day event celebrating the castle's 500 year anniversary and one which we hope to run to the highest standards in regards to authenticity while at the same time having a lot of fun and trying new crafts and skills.
The idea of the event is to have a full living history camp running all week (24 hours is encouraged but not insisted upon) in the castle grounds and also to use the castle itself. We have already contacted a number of crafts people and hope to have blacksmithing, tile making, willow weaving, bow making and many other crafts present and happening. We are also in talks with a brewery to provide beer for the event to an origional medieval recipe as well as a lumber yard to provide materials for carpentry amongst other plans.
As you can see we hope to have a lot of skills and crafts going on during the week as well as a military training element (sword, pole arm and archery) for those that would like to try this. The theme of the event during the week will be preparing for the weekend when there will be a market and fair displaying all the things made during the week as well as a display of mounted skill by riders from destrier. The aim is to give dedicated re-enactors the time and opportunity to immerse themselves in the period and do allĀ the things that there is not normally time to try at a normal event.
We hope to be able to pool together a wide range of skills and experience from a diverse selection of re-enactors from around the country and beyond. Although we cannot off the same travel expenses that the Company does we are able to provide a budget for the event to include the cost of food and craft materials so that this financial burden can be removed from anyone attending.
If anyone would like any more details or information on the event please feel free to contact me by email, phone or facebook, my details are below.
